An Oversize/Overweight Load - Trip Permit (OO Trip) is required for the transportation of a load(s) that exceeds the limits prescribed in the Highway Traffic Act (HTA), on a specific day(s), on a specific route, that is not already allowed for by a current Oversize/Overweight Load - Annual Permit (OO Annual).

A Single Trip Permit may be issued by the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville upon review of the application to assure the regulations noted below are met and upon approval of route by the Director of Public Works or a Public Works Department employee so delegated.  The Counties may at their discretion provide the applicant with an alternate route or may deny the application at their discretion.

Single Trip Permit Special Regulations:

1. Width:

  • 3.66m – 3.99m – No conditions.
  • 4.00m – 4.35m – Applicant to provide own escort in front of move.
  • 4.35m – 5.00m – Applicant to provide own escort in front and back of move.
  • 5.00m – Certified Superload Escort front and back of move.
  • Over 5.00m – Certified Superload Escort front and back and may limit segments of road without passing areas that can be occupied to 5 km.

2.  Length: 26.00m and longer – Applicant to have escort at back as well as front of move.

3.  Height:  4.40m and above – Applicant responsible for clearing overhead utilities and assuring clearance of overhead structures.

4.  Weight:  Applicant must make special application.
